Baccarat, also known as Punto Banco, is one of the oldest and most popular games in casinos around the world. It is especially USA popular with high rollers and Asian players. Baccarat is extremely dominant in Macau. Although the game appears serious and elegant, it is basically as simple as betting on the flip of a coin.

In the card game Baccarat, with the right strategy you have a very small house advantage over the casino. The Baccarat rules and strategy are easy to learn. A game of Baccarat has three possible outcomes that you can bet on.

Note:

“Banker” and “Player” do not refer to the persons participating in the game! It’s just a term for an event you can bet on.

There are three types of Baccarat tables:

Big Table Baccarat

Big Table Baccarat is played in a separate high roller area.

Two cards are hidden face down under the shoe and dealt to the player with the highest bet. This player then looks at the cards and then returns them to the player who is dealing. Then the player must turn the cards over and one of the casino dealers will announce the totals.

Depending on the sum of the two cards, the dealer may then instruct the person dealing the cards to deal a third card. Finally, the three dealers will deal the winning bets and collect the losing bets on the dealer table.

Mini Baccarat

Mini Baccarat has the same rules as Big Table Baccarat. However, unlike the game at the big table, the dealer turns all the cards over and makes for a much faster game. The odds are exactly the same as at the big table, except that it is played with a different number of decks of cards. Mini Baccarat is sometimes dealt from a six-deck shoe, which slightly changes the odds. It can usually be found in the regular casino area.

Midi Baccarat is the same as Mini Baccarat except that the table is larger and it is usually played in the high limit rooms.

Rules – How to play Baccarat?

Below is a step-by-step explanation of the Baccarat rules. The terminology can be a bit confusing. To try to minimize this when referring to a particular bet or hand, I will use capital letters. Especially players and bankers refer to bets as well as certain sets of two or three cards each.

1. eight decks of cards are usually used.

A third card can be paid to either the player or banker hands, depending on the following rules.

7. if the player or banker has 8 or 9 points, it is called “natural”. If there is at least one natural, then both hands will stand.

8. otherwise, if the player’s total is 5 or less, then the player hand will draw another card, otherwise with 6 or 7 points, the player hand stands.

9. If the Player’s hand is 6 or 7 points, the Banker’s hand will draw a third card for a total of 5 or less. Otherwise, the Banker will stand with 6 or 7 points.

10. if the player draws a third card, then the Banker uses his position advantage to decide whether to take a third card according to his total and the third card drawn to the player according to the following table.

11. the scores of the player and banker hands are compared; the winner is the one who is higher In the case of a tie, the player and banker place bets.

12. the tie bet wins if the player and banker tie hands. All other results lose.

13. the Player Pair bet wins when the first two cards in the player’s hand are of equal rank. All other outcomes lose.

14. the banker pair bet wins if the first two cards in the banker hand are of equal rank. All other outcomes lose.

The following is how to pay each bet
